Creating a Home That Feels Personal and Functions Beautifully
Inside a complete Beverly Hills condominium renovation designed around art, individuality, and the way its owners want to live.
The Beverly Hills residence began with a significant transition: our clients were downsizing from a longtime family home into a condominium. The goal was not to recreate what they had left behind, but to design a new home that felt equally personal, comfortable, and full of life.
Set within one of Beverly Hills’ distinguished residential buildings, the 4,000-square-foot condominium offered expansive views and abundant natural light. The interiors, however, needed to be completely reconsidered to better reflect the clients’ lifestyle, their appreciation for craftsmanship, and their extraordinary collection of art.
Rather than beginning with a predetermined aesthetic, we began with the people who would live there. Every architectural and decorative decision was considered in relation to their collections, routines, and desire for a home that felt sophisticated without becoming formal or precious.
A Kitchen with Warmth and Character
The kitchen was designed to feel clean and architectural while still bringing warmth and personality into the home. Softly colored cabinetry, natural stone, and sculptural lighting create a restrained backdrop with just enough character to distinguish it from a conventional neutral kitchen.
The materials were chosen not only for their beauty, but for the way they would function and age over time. Comfortable upholstered seating softens the harder surfaces and allows the kitchen to become a natural gathering place rather than simply a room for preparation.
Spaces That Feel Collected
Throughout the residence, contemporary pieces are layered with custom furnishings, artisanal objects, and items the clients had collected over many years. The intention was never for the rooms to feel overly coordinated or newly assembled.
Instead, varied forms, materials, and periods were brought together to create a sense of history and individuality. A sculptural dining table, expressive seating, custom millwork, and carefully selected lighting all contribute to interiors that feel cultivated over time.
A More Personal Kind of Luxury
Luxury in this home is expressed through material, proportion, craftsmanship, and comfort rather than ornament for its own sake. In the primary bathroom, dramatic natural stone and finely detailed walnut cabinetry create a calm, immersive retreat. A softly upholstered stool introduces an unexpected note of color and prevents the room from feeling austere.
The result is a space that feels indulgent, but also quiet, functional, and deeply connected to everyday life.
Designing Around Art
The clients’ art collection was central to the project from the beginning. Rather than treating artwork as something to be added after the rooms were complete, we considered its scale, placement, and relationship to the architecture throughout the design process.
The furnishings needed to hold their own alongside the collection without competing with it. Soft forms, tactile fabrics, expressive silhouettes, and a nuanced palette create visual interest while allowing the art to remain an essential part of each room.

A Home for Its Next Chapter
Ultimately, the residence was designed to feel like an authentic expression of its owners rather than a departure from the life they had built. It is refined but relaxed, artful but entirely livable, and thoughtfully suited to this next chapter.
